Update from Hillsong Conference, Sydney.

This Hillsong Conference has been the break I was looking for and more. These are the few learning highlights:John Maxwell is as usual, excellent to listen to and to be reminded again of some leadership fundamentals. A reminder that most of his works are worth reading even if it takes a lifetime to walk in them!

Hillsong is a very creative church and full of energy and purpose in all that they are doing. I saw a video on "Behind the scenes" and was helpful to see the praying, briefings and positive and serving spirit of those who are doing all the little things to make church as comfortable as possible for newcomers. The worship here is of course contemporary, excellent and bursting with creative energy. There were also many quieter intimate moments of waiting upon the Lord. It is always good to see people – especially young people – passionate about their faith.

From Nicky, it is a reminder again of the power of the Gospel to transform societies and all that God has been doing - and is still – with Alpha.

The various other speakers also brought the same message of the need to center our lives and ministry on Jesus. This includes walking with Him on a daily basis and some very basic things which we can never be speaking too much off.

It has also been good to catch up with Glenn Chan, who is finishing off his second year in Hillsong Leadership School. We also caught up with Julia Lui and her kids.

Looking forward to seeing you all again next Sunday. Do have a blessed day of the Lord.
