Vicar Writes 10-11 Sept 2011

Our staff is currently going through John Stott’s last book (he passed away last month), The Living Church in our weekly devotion. It has been enriching to reread again on the basics of the nature of the church. Indeed helpful as we prepare to move back to Leedon. I would like to encourage you to get a copy and be blessed by it. I will be writing a review of the book at a teaching blog which I have set up with some other pastors and leaders.

As it stands, we are hoping to have our first service back at Leedon on 6th Nov. Our annual Confirmation Service is on 13th Nov, where our Bishop will be coming. There is of course much work needed in the next few weeks. We will also need the various processes with the authorities (TOP etc) to happen smoothly and as scheduled. Please continue to pray.

I want to thank all who have participated in our latest round of 24/7. Special thanks to Pas Henry and Denise Tan for organizing it. It is a blessing to be able to pull away from our busy schedule and spend time with the Lord.

The next round of Alpha Weekend Away falls on 8-9 Oct. It is open to those who missed this when they were part of previous rounds of Alpha. Or if you are interested to know more about the work and person of the Holy Spirit, please join us. Contact Christine or Philip Ho for the sign-up details.

This weekend we welcome Revd Yee Ching Wah, the Dean of Thailand, to our services this weekend. Do continue to remember and pray for Pas Andrew and Diana as they move into the next phase of ministry in Bangkok.

This week, we received a substantial gift from an ex-SJC-er elderly person who is currently worshiping at another church. With this, we have reached the target for our Building Fund.

Praise the Lord.
