Keeping and Changing
We had a wonderful Christmas Weekend. We had a Carol-filled Eve Service, and then, a full joyful house for the Christmas Day celebration. There are too many people to thank and I won’t attempt to do that here. Suffice to say that there was a family spirit as each serves and give off their best for the Lord. Pray for those who visited that God’s Word will continue to work deeply in their hearts.
Having experienced this place for 2 months, we can see that there is great potential for ministry in this new House of the Lord. It is my prayer that for many years to come, that this fruitful potential will unfold.
As a new year approaches, this is a good time to trust God for a new season of new things as a Crossroad Church. January, in bringing the Epiphany season is traditionally a month where we talk about the vision of the church. This coming one will hold a special significance. We are into “unchartered waters” so to speak and I have mentioned before, our attitude is one of ‘tabula rasa’ as we remain open to new things. I am looking forward to spending a few days in quiet prayer and reflection at the terrace/prayer chapel area and the Prayer Room. And then, some prayer-filled meetings with ministry leaders.
In being open to the new, we will need to keep Jeremiah 6:16 before us:
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls..”
What we need to do is not to confuse form with substance when we weigh what we need to retain and where we need to change. If we keep the essentials of what the church should be clearly before us. This will guide us we “keep and change.”
One thing we want to be here is to be a home for all. That is how the church has been designed – it is a large house! And now it is up to us to make this truly a home.
