A new season to bless the BV Community

Recently, some of us pastors from the Buona Vista area met our new MP, Mr Chan Chun Sing (3rd from left) over lunch. We had a very fruitful time of dialogue and discussions on ways to help needy residents in our BV community. He found it encouraging that we are going beyond organizing events to actually connecting with and helping residents on a regular basis. We look forward to greater cooperation with the MP, BVCCC and the various bodies in our constituency.
Last Sunday, I had a good session with the leaders of SES (GCCC ) as we share together our dreams for the congregation when we move back to Leedon. Do pray for this Service and congregation.
This weekend, we continue with our series on “Building a Healthy Church” with a focus on “Being a People in Community.” How can everyone in the church be cared for? The pastors can only do so much. And it is not just about time or effort. Every person has a different ability to connect with people, depending on language ability, background, personality etc. We also connect deeper with some, and less with others.
If we rely on only a few to do the caring, we can touch only some. But if every members cares, the pastoral reach is multiplied many times and to people with varied background. Each of you can do your part to build the community in SJC. It is your unique gift. You can offer a kind of care, love and connection that is uniquely expressed through you, shaped by your personality, background, experiences etc. In fact, if you have had past painful experiences, you can understand the pain in others in a way that others may not be able to do. For example, I have seen how ex-cancer patients can connect and help those struggling with it. Or how people who share the same language or dialect group can go deeper in their friendship.
This is how we are the Body of Christ, every part, different but playing an important role. This is how he has created all of us, beautiful and unique.
