The Parable of the Talents is a fitting reminder as we begin to use this new facility. Set in a chapter with the major parables, it reminds us of our relationship to the Lord (10 Virgins), to ourselves (Talents) and the world (Sheep & Goats).
The Church is neither a building nor an institution. Its true identity and strength lies in the fact that it is a community build on Christ. Indeed each of us has many gifts (“talents”) as unique members of His Body. It is when we use them that this church as a community will reach her potential. This includes all our language congregations and ministries. We need each other to be the church He has called us to be.

Our staff is currently going through John Stott’s last book (he passed away last month), The Living Church in our weekly devotion. It has been enriching to reread again on the basics of the nature of the church. Indeed helpful as we prepare to move back to Leedon. I would like to encourage you to get a copy and be blessed by it. I will be writing a review of the book at a teaching blog which I have set up with some other pastors and leaders.

Recently, some of us pastors from the Buona Vista area met our new MP, Mr Chan Chun Sing over lunch. We had a very fruitful time of dialogue and discussions on ways to help needy residents in our BV community. He found it encouraging that we are going beyond organizing events to actually connecting with and helping residents on a regular basis. We look forward to greater cooperation with the MP, BVCCC and the various bodies in our constituency.
