Revd Canon Terry Wong

Terry Wong has been the Vicar of St James’ since 2001. An NUS graduate, he started his fulltime ministry as a parish worker in 1986 at  St John’s - St Margaret’s Church (SJSM) , serving in the campus students ministry .

He later underwent his MDiv training at  Trinity Theological College from 1989 to 1992. He was ordained in 1993 as an Anglican minister in active service with the Diocese of Singapore. He continued his ministry in SJSM till he was posted to St James’ Church. In 2007, he was collated as a canon at St Andrew’s Cathedral. He also served from 1999 till 2006 as the National Director of Alpha Singapore.

In 2005, he challenged the church to embrace the Crossroad Vision, which in part, gave rise to the current rebuilding project. He also often labels himself as a “local church man”, loves his current job and believes that the local church has great potential to be a community for the Lord’s glory.  

He has many hobbies, including cooking, fishing, reading ,writing and anything to do with IT! He also plays Wii with his children . He also has a facebook account here and hopes to be blogging more vicarish thoughts.

He is married to Jennifer and they have two daughters, Sarah (top left) and Deborah. 

He is currently advisor to the Diocesan Youth Board and the Alpha Singapore Board .
