Visiting SJC?

Vicar’s write 27 December 2015

posted 27.12.2015

Thank you LORD for 2015!

The Psalmist says “Truly God is good to Israel”. (Psalm 73:1a ESV) The emphasis and idea is God is good; and He is truly good all the time. The word as I look back to 2015 is “gives thanks”; count your blessings and name them one by one! Let me share just five thanksgiving:

  1.  I am deeply humbled and very grateful to be in St. James’ – taking over on 1st July as vicar was a personal milestone. The transition heightened my own sense of unpreparedness. At the same time, I am determined to grow in Christ-likeness and be an example of a disciple as per 2 Timothy 2:2. This is a vision God has deposited for me, and I believe SJC, as we work it through till 2020. I declare with hope, trusting in the grace of God who is truly good and have said my grace is sufficient for ALL your needs in Jesus Christ.
  2. I thank God for a meaningful Induction and Institution service on 19 September 2015. The wonderful support of SJC leaders and members, bishop, clergy, friends and also the Diocesan family overwhelmed me. I felt like Mary who can only say as I was given this great honour and privilege “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38 ESV)
  3. I am thankful for a great staff team and their unstinting support. The 2nd half of 2015 was amazing when I think of the Leaders’ meeting, Vision Month, Mission Month and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. It was hectic and exhilarating; made possible because ALL of you worked so hard and even attempted new things. Let me echo Paul’s prayer to express my thanks: “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Phil 1:3-5 ESV)
  4. I thank God for the PCC, ministry leaders, SJCK management and teachers who love God dearly and desire to follow Him ever so closely. All your sacrifices, seen and unseen to man “to know God and make Him known” inspires me. God sees them all and may He be glorified in you and yours in the years ahead.
  5. Finally, to all the members in St James’; you have welcomed me, Fung, Johanan, Asher and Asriel into this church family. Thank you for the many blessings, gifts and care expressed in so many ways and the privilege to co-labour together. THANK YOU! My family and I wish you a Blessed Advent and Christmas 2015!
