Visiting SJC?

Vicar’s write 25 October

Today is Bible Quest (BQ) Sunday! What is Bible Quest and why?
5 He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our forefathers
to teach their children,
6 so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
7 Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands.  Psalm 78:5-7

The Psalmist looked back at the history of Israel and reminds us, parents and the church: we are to teach our children God’s ways and WHY! So “they would not be like their forefathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.” Psalm 78:8

BQ is children discipleship; I want to personally congratulate every child and their parents who have helped them gain points by doing family devotions, practiced memory verses or awarded bonus points to them as you catch them doing the right things! YES; I did say “catch” because BQ is all about reinforcing the positive things of God for formation of Faith@Home.

I pray every child will continue to be enthused and motivated to be Spirit-empowered disciples in our SJC vision. So, today we publicly recognize and applaud their effort in this journey to keep their Quiet Time, memorize verses and books of the Bible in the Old and New Testaments. In addition, they read through books of the Bible and are able to identify the author of the Bible book and pick a favourite verse to accumulate points. A sample of the points a child needs to accumulate and the “Year 1” awards (for older kids) are according to the table below.

I look forward to a greater celebration in October 2016 for the Year 2 presentation. Thank you children for leading the way and may we as parents and Church rise up to do what God commands in Psalm 78.
