From Glory to Glory : The Time Has Come!

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV )

The time has indeed come for us to unite our hearts and spirits as a church to give thanks to God for His love and faithfulness to St. James’ Church these past 40 years.

The countdown to the SJC 40 Celebration Service and Dinner has started and all our teams (led by Ps Wai Lung) from Hosts to Bus Captains; Secretariat to Worship are gearing up to make this event one that all will remember. We are expecting about 1300 guests and the day will start at 4.30pm with a combined Thanksgiving Service where Holy Communion will be served. This will be followed by a celebration dinner where young and old can enjoy after dinner activities while fellowshipping with each other. Shuttle buses will be provided for those who prefer not to drive. Do listen out for more details as we draw closer to the day. If you would like to help in one of the teams mentioned above, we welcome you! Please email tingai@sjc.org.sg and tell us which area you can help in. If you have not registered for this event, you can do so now. (Please refer to the bulletin for details.)

There will be no cost for the dinner. A free will offering will be taken up for Lat Krabang Anglican Church for Phase 1B of the Building Project. Estimated cost for Phase 1B is S$2.5 million.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the SJC40 Celebration Service and Dinner. If you know of any ex-St. Jamers’, do invite them to join us and make sure they register too.

Let me encourage you to also join us at these upcoming events :

2017 marks 40 years of the life of SJC; it is indeed an exciting year as we end one generation and move into another. As we do so, let us continue to REMEMBER (God’s faithfulness in leading SJC to where we are today), REJOICE (in God’s love and goodness to us as a community) and RESPOND (by giving ourselves afresh to Christ and the cause of His Kingdom).

“Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.” Genesis 21:33 (ESV)

And just as Abraham planted the tamarisk tree for the generations to come, let us also witness and experience God’s glory to SJC from generation to generation!

Ps Siang Guan
Vicar

A little SJC Trivia : Did you know that the Feast Day of St. James’ the Lesser is on 3rd May? James the Lesser was also known as James the Just and was known to be prayerful and practical in many ways. As we were unable to confirm the exact day we had previously celebrated our Anniversary Day, we chose 3rd May, the Feast Day, as the life and spirit of prayer in Saint James speaks of the spirit St. James’ Church aspires to be -  A community that serves others and is prayerful in reaching out till the completion of world evangelization.
